Joshua Baboon Rehabilitation Centre

Donation request of equipment for baboon rehabilitation centre

joshua baboon centreIt’s really a worthy cause where two people who are totally dedicated and passionate about their work are desperately needing financial/equipment assistance to complete a half finished job…in a nutshell the project was started 9 years ago when a baby baboon arrived on Nola & Peter Frazer’s doorstep, the mother had been killed and 96 baboons later, they have a fully fledged rehabilitation centre where just recently 2 troops of 25 & 19 were released into 2 x 5 hectare camps in their process of rewilding.

The next stage of their rewilding is a 100 hectare camp that is half finished and this is where I’m trying to help them either get redundant equipment for loan or an outright donation (they do have a fundraising number), public acknowledgement would be made and the donator could become the primary sponsor of the camp – it is fenced, but still needs a cement foundation around the 5km perimeter and dams & access roads need to be built, so in essence they need the services of a 4ton bulldozer and a 2ton digger (Peter has done some research to hire the equipment over the 3 months they would need it, but this is very expensive and 2nd hand equipment is in the range of R250 000 for both machines) – it would be really sad to see the project come to a standstill when they’ve come so far!baboons in background

adopt a baboon

An excellent way to help is by adopting a baboon. Why not bring somebody new into your family?
R2400 a year (or R200 month) gives the sponsor the following:
Their choice of baboon to sponsor
A Profile package which includes pictures and history of their adoptee
Bi-monthly updates on the status of their adoptee
Bi-monthly pictures if their adoptee hasn’t yet been released into the wild
and when possible after release
Acknowledgment on this Website
Current Adopt-a-Baboon Sponsors

Heartfelt thanks to all those who support The Manger in its role as a rescue and rehabilitation organization. The baboons would especially like to thank their sponsors - your love and compassion has gone a long way to helping The Manger operate. Those baboons that have been adopted by sponsors - Oliver, Ngelo, Erin, Joshua, Beth and Joseph - are very grateful that such kind souls such as yourselves exist. Those who are as yet unadopted know that some time their day will come.
