The Group’s extensive product portfolio includes communication and collision avoidance systems, electrical and electronics equipment, transport systems, pumps, shaft safety components, underground and tunnel supports, as well as lifting and maintenance equipment.

With the Becker Group’s recent acquisition of electrical equipment specialists, EMIS Sales 2002 (Pty) Ltd, the company now supplies energy distribution products to the mining sector. This equipment, designed for safe use in hazardous areas, includes conveyor starter and distribution panels, motor control centres, custom-designed electrical distribution boards and electrical panels, as well as isolators and enclosures. EMIS electrical products for non-hazardous areas include distribution, pump, winch, flitting and cage control panels; lighting and accessories and telemetry communication systems.

EMIS flameproof transformers and switchgear combinations are also new to the range. These compact switchgear units, with power ratings up to 4 000 kVA, are available with primary nominal voltages up to 11 kV and secondary nominal voltages to 3,3 kV. The latest plug-in technology, with integrated monitoring and control functions, means all connections are automatically established.

Another recently launched product which will be showcased at this year’s Electra Mining exhibition is the new intrinsically safe Becker WRAP (Wireless Router Access Point) Wi-Fi system which ensures reliable, safe and efficient communication underground. becker-group-electra-mining-2010…two This system does not limit usage to a single technology, but encompasses migration and integration of many technologies.

Becker’s latest patented tri-technology Collision Avoidance System (CAS) has been developed to overcome the limitations of existing systems in the industry. This new system provides levels of audible and visual warning proportional to the position of the threat and also has the ability to “STOP” a vehicle, should this be necessary. Becker Engineering has also launched the new Kito L5 series lever hoists with an overload limiter that prevents the hoist from excessive overload lifting. New features of this lever hoist improve the operator’s safety and increase the durability of the hoist.

Bellambie Mining & Industrial has recently completed the manufacture of a new test trailer, designed for visual inspections and accurate load testing of lifting equipment up to 7 tons. The company, which is registered with the department of labour as a ‘Lifting Machinery Entity’ (LME) offers a specialised proofloading facility to ensure that lifting equipment complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Mining Act requirements The Group’s extensive product range complies fully with government mining regulations and mining house specifications.
