The BOMAG MPH 125 stabiliser/recycler, available in South Africa through the local agent Bell Equipment, is the first choice for low-cost preparation of weak soils - on soil stabilisation with lime, fly ash or cement, or on cold recycling of worn roads. The machine has a hydrostatic rotor and travel drive system, articulated rear axle steering as well as a centrally arranged rotor behind the articulated frame joint. The powerful, water-cooled eight-cylinder Deutz engine is equipped with electronic engine management. At 440 kW it has the power reserves to fully exploit the 2530 mm working width and maximum working depth of 550 mm even on difficult terrain. Naturally, the stabiliser/recycler meets the requirements of the latest exhaust directives.
The rotor speed can be continuously adjusted during the milling process to suit the working conditions for the best mixing result. Hydraulic overload protection eliminates the risk of major damage or unwanted downtime caused by obstructions in the ground.
The height adjustable cab can be lowered for transportation. This reduces the need for special permits or special low-load trailers for transport. At the same time this design ensures that the operator has an outstanding overall view of the working area.
Cold recycling in-situ For use of the MPH 125 on road recycling or soil stabilisation, different systems are available for adding bitumen and water which apply additives to the milling machine's mixing chamber during the milling process. Water, bitumen emulsion or foamed bitumen can be processed; control can be manual or by speed related automatic dosing unit; screen control and documentation function.
Cold recycling with foamed bitumen offers ecological and cost advantages. Both bound and unbound layers are treated after milling with foamed bitumen and installed as a new base layer. The foamed bitumen is created by injecting water onto hot bitumen heated to about 180 degrees which increases the bitumen volume many times over. The advantage of this method is the outstanding binding effect at low cost.
