Variable Reach Trucks - Double Fork System
Big Lift Trucks has recently launched high lift Taylor TXB all terrain forklifts to the local market. This series, which requires minimal maintenance and is resistant to dynamic/shock loads, is the newest unit in the Taylor range of loaded and empty container handlers, reach stackers and forklifts.
“This robust new forklift, known to Taylor as the workhorse in big wheel industrial trucks, has been designed to cope with the most demanding tasks in rough yard applications,” says Clinton van den Berg, products manager for Big Lift Trucks. “Taylor TXB all terrain forklifts, which are designed for efficient operation, low maintenance and extended service life in arduous conditions, also ensure low operating costs.”
TXB forklifts have an all welded steel chassis and frames for optimum strength. A heavy duty, stable mast, which contains high strength lift chains, has a pressure compensated lowering control facility, with the back-up of an emergency manual lowering valve system. An important feature is an outboard mounted heat shielded muffler, with a vertical stack, for improved visibility and noise control.
Benefits of these forklifts include a heavy duty bolted planetary drive axle; large, all terrain tyres for good traction and fully adjustable pin mounted forks, which are forged from heat treated steel, that allow for flexibility of operation. These forklifts, which are rated in excess of 215 HP for heavy duty industrial applications, have full directional modulation for soft directional changes, with operator controlled air inching for precise vehicle positioning in any environment.
Taylor TXB low emission engines are tier certified, with lower fan and engine speeds for reduced noise levels. There are electronic diagnostics on the engine with a fault code history for fast problem location and a built in emergency shutdown system for the engine and transmission is standard. These robust forklifts have a heavy duty three-speed powershift transmission with a high capacity 12 plate clutch system for enhanced durability.
A dual element air cleaner with a restriction indicator system offers engine protection and a remote mounted filter reduces oil spills. An exhaust purifier system is an optional environmental feature. The newly designed main hydraulic valve system, with fewer valves and hoses, allows for simple operation and easy maintenance. This system is equipped with a manual override facility.
A high capacity cooling system with wide fin spacing reduces dirt build-up and provides efficient engine cooling for dependable operation in all environments. These cooling systems include a charge air cooler, engine fluid cooler, transmission oil cooler and wet disc oil and hydraulic oil cooler. A high performance seven-blade pusher fan blows dust and debris away from the operator.
The hydraulic tank has a heavy gauge steel wall, with a serviceable filter element, a remote mounted breather and an internal suction screen. This full flow in-tank offers 10-Micron return filtration. The fuel tank has a newly designed fuel sensor, with no moving parts.
For easy visibility, which increases safety on construction sites, these forklifts have counterweight sloped sections and front mounted mast and overhead rear work lights. Other safety features include forward and reverse motion alarms, wide angle rear view mirrors, as well as hand rails and anti-slip steps. Axle mounted spring-on, hydraulic-off parking brakes, with a brake saver system, prevent the operator from driving through the parking brakes.
To facilitate easy maintenance, the TXB range has removable side panels for access to internal components. Brakes are easily serviceable without the need for axle disassembly, the filter element on the chassis is replaceable with easy access by two bolts and tanks are also bolt-on for easy removal and cleaning. The engine can be serviced from the running board.
Re-set circuit breakers are used throughout the truck instead of conventional fuses. For easy identification, all wiring is colour and number coded. Frame channels ensure clean and protected routing of wiring and hoses.
The TXB’s ergonomically designed operator station, with excellent visibility through the mast, forward and rear of the forklift, is one of the most spacious all-steel cabs in the industry. Features include a two door design with sliding glass, a circulation fan, sound insulation, remote under-cab hour meter and front and rear windshield wipers and washer. A vinyl mechanical suspension seat reduces vibration and an anti cinch restraint allows free movement for the operator.
An adjustable fingertip electric joystick control on the hinge-down instrument panel ensures smooth and precise handling. Steering on a tilt steering wheel is fully hydrostatic. A single left pedal combines both brake and inching controls.
The Taylor range of materials handling equipment is distributed exclusively throughout Africa by Big Lift Trucks, which offers a technical advisory, support and spare parts service throughout Africa.
