BMG hosted a two day open day event for customers to showcase the company’s extensive product range, which is supported by solutions-based technical services throughout Southern Africa.
This event, which was held recently at BMG Park in Johannesburg, highlighted BMG’s different product and service divisions - bearings, seals, power transmission, drives, hydraulics, belting, fasteners, electronics and technical services.
“We were thrilled with the huge attendance of key players in diverse sectors of our business, including mining, general industry and engineering, food and beverage, chemical processing, agriculture, automotive and forestry,” says Charles Walters, BMG’s CEO. “This event was the perfect opportunity to display BMG’s full portfolio and to introduce new products and specialist services to the market.
“Growth at BMG has been organic and through strategic acquisitions, the company increased its turnover to R2,4-billion in 2010, with a group stockholding currently of R900-million. BMG has recently been upgraded to a BEE Level 3 status, which means customers can claim BEE procurement recognition of 110 % against all purchases. This is an important achievement for the company.”
BMG’s ongoing expansion programme includes plans for a major upgrade of the 40 000 m² warehousing facility. The hub of the distribution network is the central despatch warehouse at BMG Park, which handles approximately 38 000 transfers a month, with around 36 Tons being despatched daily. BMG stocks a large range of component parts to be able to build systems immediately, according to clients’ exact specifications.
BMG, with a team of 2 300, has over 100 branches in South Africa. The company also has branches in Namibia, Zambia, Botswana, Swaziland and Mozambique and has appointed distributors across Africa to supply to Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Mali, Tanzania, Kenya, DRC and Angola.
