CSE Equipment, exclusive distributors in Southern Africa of Case equipment, has launched the latest range of Case backhoe loaders – the T Series, with enhanced power for improved productivity, reduced noise levels and greater security on site.
This range has a lifting capacity up to 4,6 tons on reinforced loader arms, which have been designed for exceptional rigidity and strength.
“Case has produced nearly 750 000 backhoe loaders since the company’s launch in 1957of the world’s first factory built fully integrated loader backhoe (TLB). Case has continuously upgraded and improved the design of these machines to meet changing demands,” says Alex Ackron, national manager of CSE Equipment division. “What’s notable about Case machines is their suitably for use on urban job sites. These backhoe loaders have low noise levels (exterior - 103 dB), reduced exhaust emissions and a secure footprint.
There are two units in the T series available locally – the 580 T, and 695 ST. This series is available with tier 3 compliant, low-emission, fuel efficient engines, with 98 hp (72 kW) on the 580 T and 112 hp (82 kW) on 695 ST, providing increased power for enhanced performance.
Flow compensation hydraulics, similar to those in a large wheel loader, enable the operator to use as many functions simultaneously as required. This ensures smooth operation, rapid cycle times and increased productivity.
Powershift transmission provides smooth gear shifting and increased loading ability. On the 695 ST unit, operators can choose between fully automatic and manual gear changing.
Over-lapping boom cylinders provide lower transport height (3,7 m) and a slimmer boom width for enhanced visibility. The outer dipper is powered by a robust hydraulic cylinder for improved protection and the curved boom ensures increased digging ability and easier loading over a truck. The boom dipper and swing cylinders have standard hydraulic end stroke cushioning for improved precision, extended component life and smooth operation. Hose routing is optimised for maximum protection, preventing downtime and reducing operational costs.
Another important design feature is the position of the side teeth at the edge of the blade and flat bucket sides for improved bucket penetration. With a kick down button, the powershift transmission offers greater tractive effort and improved bucket fill. Automatic return-to-dig and mechanical self-levelling functions minimise operator fatigue.
A special ride control on selected units reduces loader arm bounce during travel, maintaining maximum material retention on all surfaces. This feature also ensures higher travel speeds and reduced journey times. The front axle offers approximately 11° of oscillation to maintain traction on the toughest terrain, improving bucket retention and maintaining productivity.
For enhanced security on site, the T series has new features that include a secure oil cap breather on the hydraulic tank to prevent contamination, the engine canopy lock is situated in the cab to avoid vandalism and a lockable battery box inhibits theft from site.
This series has been designed for minimal downtime and reduced maintenance requirements. A single piece tilting engine canopy enables top and side access, from ground level, for safe and easy maintenance. The braking system uses the machine’s main hydraulic oil reservoir, which means there is no requirement for a separate filler.
Hydraulic and steering pressure control points are conveniently located between the cab and fuel tank for effortless checking. Large capacity fuel tanks ensure longer working hours between refills – this increases operational hours on site. The Case electronic service tool enables rapid rail engine diagnostics, which reduces downtime.
For easy maintenance, greasing points are protected from dust and damage, hydraulic connections are well guarded, flexible and easy to use The dozing blade on the 4-in-1 bucket can be easily replaced when worn.
An engine pre-filter is standard for dusty working conditions. Four wheel drive (on selected units) and a 100% locking differential fitted to the rear axle provide all-weather traction in the toughest site conditions. For night operation, these machines have 10 working lights, including two on the sides, for maximum visibility.
Case backhoe loaders have a tailored working position for improved control and reduced operator fatigue.
New design features of the cab include insulating mountings for reduced vibration and noise levels (internal 93 dB), a fully tiltable rear screen that provides an unobstructed view to the digging area and a new lockage storage compartment, as well as wide steps and sturdy grab handles for easy access to the machine.
For flexibility in materials handling, these machines can be fitted with pallet forks. Excellent front loader visibility and mechanical self-levelling, ensure safe and efficient pallet loading and unloading.
These machines are also available with a range of versatile loader buckets where the 4-in-1 bucket, with a pallet fork pack, can be converted to a 6-in-1 bucket. Reinforced digging buckets are designed for extreme wear resistance in all digging applications. Other accessories include ditch cleaning buckets, v-type buckets and hydraulic hammers with a side plate design specially adapted for backhoe installation. Augers, between 150 mm and 1 050 mm in diameter, are designed for applications that include the installation of telegraph poles, electricity pilons, pillars and signposts, as well as tree and shrub planting.
CSE supports its range of Case equipment - which includes loaders, backhoe loaders, excavators, telehandlers and skid steers - with a technical advisory and maintenance service throughout the country. Operator and mechanic training is also provided.
