As part of phase 2 of its expansion project, BMR needed to build a scrubber plant tank and pump base plinth with acid proof protection. Diamond Products was selected by contractor CSI to provide the required diamond floor grinding specification.
Using a Master Finish floor grinding machine from Mayday Equipment Suppliers, Diamond Products provided all the wedges needed to provide a smooth, clear working surface for the application of the protection coating.
Tim Greenway of CSI said that although this part of the project has just started, the company has provided floor protection for BMR for the past five years.
“It was important that the working surface was free of contamination and excess dirt build-up, prior to our applying the product. In the past we have made use of hand held angle grinders and chipping hammers but the Diamond tools were able to provide a smooth, high quality finish in a fast and efficient manner, with little risk of injury, unlike with previous methods used,” Greenway says.
Brian Clark from Diamond Products said that the process involved wetting the concrete surface, grinding the surface using the Master Finish machine then washing down the surface. “We purpose built the wedges for use with the 85-kilogram grinding machine and together with Mayday Equipment we were able to provide the customer with a superior product.”
