Heavyweight Doosan's order book swells
Ten years down the line, with more than 1 000 units sold and over 400 loyal customers, industry leader Doosan has a lot to shout about. The local construction equipment giant has been busy with several new deals, not to mention equipment practically flying off the factory floor. Whether it’s a skid steer-loader, an excavator or a tool carrier, Doosan’s long standing commitment to its customers in the plant-hire, construction, mining and quarrying sectors, is evident.
Local construction equipment supplier Doosan continually upgrades its offerings to make its machines safer, easier to use and more environmentally-friendly.
While Doosan have done remarkably well over the past year, their clients fully support them and continue to buy quality earthmoving equipment from them. Says Dave Liebenberg, Doosan Sales Manager, “One of our largest orders was for BP Transportation based in Mooi Nooi in the North West province. They received delivery of seven of our machines in the past year-- six Mega 300-V Loaders and one Solar 300LC-V”.
The machines measuring 8,085 metres long, 3,470 metres high and weigh 17 300kg are used by BP Transportation for 6-year contract work to load coal and other materials onto trucks in the Rustenburg and Limpopo. They are also used for constructing roads and on site work at platinum and chrome mines.
With heavy competition for the business, Doosan’s long-standing relationship with BP Transport and it’s commitment to keeping their prices competitive, helped clinch this particular deal.
Says Wikus Pelser from BP Transportation: “We have enjoyed an extremely good relationship with Doosan for eight years, their machines are very fast and reliable, and so we were extremely confident in bringing Doosan on board for this contract.” Pelser also commends Doosan’s excellent spare parts division, along with their competitive pricing and availability of equipment. Mr Pelser adds that Doosan machines have improved his company’s running costs.
Doosan also increased its order book with an order for transport and earthmoving company Highlander / Limelight Logistics. They delivered five new Mega 300-V loaders to large mines in Rustenburg and Limpopo used for mining and loading trucks for mining at platinum and chrome mines in the North West province. The huge machines are 8,085 metres long, 3,470 metres high and weigh 17 300kg.
Once more Doosan rose to this particular challenge with a fantastic product and competitive price. Says Hennie Coetzee, part of the dynamic Sales Team at Doosan: “Highlander / Limelight knew our product and liked our price and there are plans for more of the same in the future.”
The Mega 300-V loaders are efficient diesel consumers and, have a record of minor downtime and are value for money. Operating costs are also reduced as Doosan’s prices are pretty inexpensive in the market; therefore machinery is contracted out at a cheaper hourly rate.
Highlander also confirms its commitment to Doosan’s fast, on-site servicing turnaround times with more deals in the pipeline for 2008.
