New Holland - New 10S Series Tractors 2009

New Holland Agriculture has launched a new range of tractors – the series 10S – that offers enhanced productivity, quiet operation, optimum efficiency and modern ergonomic features.

“This new range of tractors, which replaces the 10 series Genesis, has technically advanced NEF engines (New Engine Family) that ensure reliable and quiet operation, even in severe conditions,” says Peter Askew, managing director of New Holland Agriculture. “Important design features of this new series are the robust construction, simple design that allows access to components and facilities for easy maintenance.”

Models in the 10S series include the 5610S tractor with an 80 hp Tier 2 engine and the 6610S tractor with a 90 hp Tier 2 engine – both available in two and four wheel drive versions.

NEF engines (CNH, Iveco and Cummins) have a high precision fuel system that guarantees high performance and low fuel consumption. The new design features longer stroke and smaller bore (132 mm x 104 mm) for high torque, ensuring efficient operation in extreme conditions. The redistribution of components and reduction in parts improves balance of torsional loads and reduces vibration. This means smooth, quiet and efficient operation. Another advantage of these engines is fewer polluting gases are discharged into the atmosphere.

The full-flow lubrication system now has an oil cooler which keeps oil at a lower temperature and therefore maintains its lubricating and sealing characteristics. The useful life of oil is also extended which means longer intervals between oil changes. The efficient cooling system reduces piston rattle during warm up and improves durability. A new expansion tank allows the engine to be cooled more uniformly which improves efficiency.

The 4WD is an electro-hydraulic drive system with limited slip that is comfortably controlled by means of a rocker switch on the console. Engaging and disengaging can be carried out while moving and with a full load.

These newly designed tractors have a one piece hood that lifts easily to facilitate easy access to components for daily maintenance. Mudguards, which follow the line of the hood, offer improved visibility for efficient operation in applications like crop farming and fruit plantations. The series 10S incorporates a light bar located at the front of the hood fitted with road standard driving lights, work lights and side lights.

Apart from improving visibility when operating at night, this design attracts insects away from the operator’s position. A 65 Amp alternator supplies power for lighting, for normal operation of the tractor and also provides sufficient power for implements that are connected to the tractor.

The straddle type operator station is easily accessible for the operator and the re-designed instrument panel offer clear visibility and easy access to controls.
