NEW TWISTERTRAC VS300 IMPACT CRUSHER, SIGNIFYING A NEW GENERATION IN CRUSHER DESIGN.
Crushing and screening equipment producer Pilot Crushtec today launched
its new TwisterTrac VS300 impact crusher, signifying a new generation in crusher design.
The TwisterTrac VS300 – which replaces its award-winning predecessor, the TwisterTrac AC210 – was unveiled at the company’s
Open Day today, Thursday, 13 October 2011, and promises to meet current market needs and increasingly tighter environmental
legislation. The TwisterTrac VS300 will also enjoy an increase in power expected to raise output to a reliable 300 tonnes per hour.
Pilot Crushtec director of operations Jorge Abelho explains that the new TwisterTrac has been designed to accommodate the Cat Tier
4 C13 and C15 ACERT engines needed to comply with stringent European and American standards for carbon emissions.
“These strict standards dictated a drastic change in design so we decided to start with a clean sheet and conceive a completely new
product from the ground up. We also incorporated improvements gained from our experience with the TwisterTrac AC210.”
Typical of these is the TwisterTrac VS300’s troughed feeder which has been designed to reduce the number of moving parts. The
crusher also incorporates a new mounting and vibration isolating system that is always visible and will allow replacing of all 4 rubber
mountings in less than an hour. The crusher motor has been moved to a position to the side of the plant which permits easy access
and maintenance on any of its components. At least 30 other major design changes to reduce maintenance have been incorporated
into the design. According to drawing office manager Dawie Scholz, more than 3,500 computer assisted drafting man-hours went
into the design process which, apart from accommodating a radically different selection of power plants, has produced a product with
significantly improved performance while being fully compliant with the latest European ergonomic and safety standards.
“The TwisterTrac VS300 will bear the European Conformity mark which indicates that it conforms to European Union directives which
also require that it be accompanied by an operations manual in the language of every country in which it is sold,” he says.
A major feature of the TwisterTrac VS300 is its state-of-the-art CANbus electronic control system which is a first in South Africa. It has
real-time filter monitoring and the most up to date in human machine interaction technology. While this sophisticated machine boasts
the very latest in programme logic control technology, the control systems are supported by graphic illustrations to guide the operator.
The TwisterTrac VS300 is available with a choice of four different power packs. These include the:
• C 13 Tier 3 328 kW engine as per the existing TwisterTrac AC210
• C 13 Tier 4 328 kW engine for European markets
• C 15 Tier 3 405 kW for local use
• C 15 Tier 4 405 kW export option
“We have increased the sizes of the diesel and hydraulic tanks in line with the increased power output to over 1,200 litres, which
means they are expected to operate non-stop for at least one-and-a-half, eight-hour shifts,” says Jorge, adding that Tier 4 engines
cannot be used locally as the specified fuel is not available in South Africa. The all new TwisterTrac VS300 is a track mounted
vertical shaft impact crusher designed for high volume tertiary and quaternary crushing applications, producing sand, fines and quality
enhancement of aggregate.
