SACD Freight, specialists in cargo and container management, has invested in a new container handler to enhance efficiencies at its Durban operation.
“SACD Freight purchased its first Taylor THDC 975 loaded container handler about two years ago to improve full container operational efficiencies and capacity on site and because the facility has now become even busier, SACD has invested in a new Taylor TEC SP-156H empty container handler,” says Clinton van den Berg, products manager for BLT. “The new Taylor container handler will further improve the Durban operation’s empty container storage and handling capacity and will enhance service levels. The company, which handles over 400 000 containers annually and stores over 8 000 full and empty containers nationally at any one time, is committed to providing reliable transportation logistics solutions.”
The Taylor TEC empty container handler, which has a heavy duty extended drive axle width for improved stability, ensures efficient and safe operation. This machine has heavy duty three-speed full directional modulated powershift transmission and is fitted with air inching and electric shift controls for precise vehicle positioning.
These container handlers have a lower fan and engine speed for reduced noise and a high capacity cooling system enables dependable operation in all environments. There are electronic diagnostics on the engine with a fault code history for fast problem location and a built-in shut down system for engine and transmission is standard.
A dual element air cleaner with a restriction indicator system offers engine protection and a remote mounted filter reduces oil spills. The shock mounted, elevated operator station is designed for easy control, enhanced safety and optimum comfort for the driver. Individual fingertip hydraulic and electric controls on a hinge-down instrument panel ensure smooth, precise handling and steering on a tilt steering wheel is fully hydrostatic. A single pedal combines both brake and inching controls. High mounted tilt cylinders that are fitted to the rear, centre mount operator station, ensure mast stabilisation. Safety features include forward and reverse motion alarms, wide angle rear view mirrors, as well as hand rails and anti-slip steps
