It has a maximum torque of 1,548 ft-lb (1,350 Nm) at 2,100 rpm, and with six forward gears and one reverse in addition to a two-speed drop box, the TA400 can travel up to 37.3 mph (60 km/h).“The TA400 has quality and reliability built in right from the start,” says George McNeil, Global Product Manager for Terex® articulated trucks.   “The truck’s improvements are a direct result of listening to our customers and taking on board the improvements they wanted us to make. I believe the TA400 is the most durable and productive ADT that Terex has ever produced”.

The TA400 truck offers all of the standard features and benefits that customers have come to expect from the Terex® brand. Standard features include its Tier 3-compliant, fuel-efficient450-hp (336 kW) diesel engine, maximum rim-pull and gradeability for negotiating inclines, as well as a large body capacity with low body weight to maximize load size and retention.

All three axles on the Terex TA400 provide 6X6 with locking differentials, and these articulated trucks are equipped with oil-cooled, wet disc brakes on all six wheels. Retarding is supplied by a standard engine brake and transmission retarder to ensure maximum control in loaded, downhill hauls. The new Terex® TA400 comes equipped with state-of-the-art computerized systems that communicate to each other through a CAN-bus system which helps ensures that the truck is running at peak efficiency.

Unique to this new Terex® truck is a four-bar trailing arm suspension system that allows operators to travel faster and more comfortably on difficult terrain. The TA400 also has a new ergonomic cab designed to give the operator the ultimate behind-the-wheel experience. All instruments are positioned in logical groups to assist with drivability and functionality. The TA400 is designed to give operators total comfort and control with updated interior aesthetics in anthracite gray, reduced interior cab noise levels for an improved working environment, new control positions and steering wheel for ease of operation, improved air conditioning capabilities for better temperature control, a high-quality sound system and new mirrors to provide excellent visibility.

Maintenance is simple to perform on the TA400. From the electric opening hood to ground level access to the major components, every consideration has been given to the maintenance of the TA400. Mechanics can easily complete under-hood service thanks to the wide platforms on both sides of the engine.
