Are these situations familiar to you?
- Engine failure
- Unplanned downtime
- Over-expenditure on maintenance budgets
- Disrupted production
- Delayed schedules
- Dissatisfied customers
- Low machine availability
Then, whether you're in the earthmoving, mining, freight, road transport, aviation, marine or industrial sector, WearCheck Africa's oil analysis programme can help you.
What is oil analysis?
Oil analysis has been proven internationally as an effective method of reducing maintenance costs, improving productivity and providing peace of mind in industries which operate large fleets, plant, equipment or heavy-duty vehicles.
The concept of analysing an oil sample from a machine or component is identical to that of taking a blood sample from a person - the results determine the health status of the unit. WearCheck's experienced diagnostic team then recommends how to rectify any abnormal findings.
WearCheck's programme analyses for wear, contamination levels and oil condition in any oil-wetted compartment or oil filter found in equipment ranging from earthmoving and hydraulic machines to aircraft engines, and recommends action for proactive maintenance management.
The benefits of oil analysisOil analysis offers substantial benefits to organisations operating large plants and industrial equipment, says Neil Robinson, managing director of WearCheck Africa.
- Save Money
Evaluations by WearCheck customers show that oil analysis plays a major role in reducing maintenance costs and extending the life of machinery. It also saves on imports by delaying the purchase of expensive major spares or new equipment. - Improve productivity
Oil analysis reduces downtime and increases the availability of plant and equipment, thereby improving productivity. - Gain peace of mind
Oil analysis acts as an early warning system, providing maintenance managers with the security of knowing that most problems will be identified before serious damage is caused. - Be environment-friendly
Oil analysis can be used to monitor equipment with a view to extending oil drain periods, so that less oil is used and, consequently, smaller quantities of used oil need to be disposed of.
'When you compare the cost of an oil sample to the potential cost of repairing or replacing equipment, or downtime, investing in oil analysis delivers a remarkable return on investment,' Robinson said.
Customers comment'In just eight months WearCheck saved us hundreds of thousands of rand in maintenance costs and will enable us to extend the life of most units of equipment by up to 40%.'
- A Vanderbijlpark mining and plant hire operation
‘'WearCheck has helped us save money on repairs, identify problems before warranties expire and improve resale values on equipment.'
- A Kimberley construction company
'Extending oil drain periods at WearCheck's recommendation boosts our cost saving programme, helps identify problems in good time and prevents costly failures.'
- A Witbank mine
How the programme works
- You take an oil sample using a special WearCheck sample kit.
- You send it to WearCheck for analysis and diagnosis.
- WearCheck sends you a report on the condition of the machinery and the oil, and recommends action for proactive maintenance.
- You submit feedback on your findings and actions which are added to the sample report.
Free WearCheck software allows you to receive results and return feedback by e-mail. It also enables you to manage your oil analysis programme from your own computer, with the option of viewing results, printing reports and creating charts and graphs.
Monthly management reports allow pinpointing of problem areas at a glance.
